Do it Yourself Bathroom Remodels
Posted by: Lisa Mason on: September 24, 2010
Many people purchase a home that is considered a fixer upper so that they can get a better price. The intent is to do the work on the home during spare time in order to save money. The bathroom is one of the first places that usually need to have the most work done. The following are some tips for do it yourself bathroom remodels:
- Make a list of everything you need to do the work. This includes any tools you may need to purchase or rent and all the supplies.
- When purchasing materials, go over every inch of them to make sure that they are in one hundred percent working order. You do not want to have to go back to the store to exchange them in the middle of the remodel.
- If the work involved needs more than a day, rent a hotel room or stay with family or friends. This can be cheaper than paying for a portable toilet.
- Know where the breaker box and water mains are located so these can be turned off before beginning any work. Water and electricity do not mix and serious accidents or even fatal ones can occur.
There are many DIY websites that can offer detailed instructions for putting in new fixtures and piping. You do not have to spend a great deal of money on contractors if you have the patience to work through any of the complications that may arise.
